I need to admit, the launch of this website is a bit of a big deal for me. I understand most businesses have a website and this one isn't particularly ground-breaking or flashy but what makes it special is that it's ours!
I can now proudly add the skill of "Website Developer" to my CV along with, vet, midwife, butcher, mechanic, salesman, machine operator, electrician, plumber, carpenter....shall i continue?
That's what is so special about farming. The job is varied with lots going on and each day is different. When something unexpected pops up you usually have to employ an already learned skill or swat up and learn a new one.
Forward planning is great and a schedule of works to be completed on the farm is always ongoing but if you walk around any farm you will see gate or fence tied together with baler band, an obvious sign that "that wasn't the plan!"
A broken fence needs to be fixed to stop animal escaping, a poorly animal needs looking after and a leaking pipe can cost hundreds if not fixed. The list of mini emergences goes on. Having the skill to deal with these problems is what keep me on my toes.
What's next and where its coming from.....but for now, I'm a website developer and I don't think I've done a bad job.
